As a traditional newborn photographer in Baton Rouge, I know you have tons of questions about your session, what’s included, how to prepare, and so much more. So I put together a FAQ to help answer some common questions. If your question isn’t answered here, feel free to contact me and I’ll be happy to answer.

Do you offer maternity sessions?

Why yes, I certainly do. Maternity sessions are exclusively available for my newborn clients as an add on.

When’s the best time in my pregnancy to schedule a maternity session?

The best time to schedule a maternity session is between 28-32 weeks. This is the time when your bump is definitely showing. I can definitely shoot your maternity session later than 32 weeks and still get beautiful photos, but that time frame is when you’ll feel your best.

When should I book a newborn session?

The sooner the better. I only take a limited number of session per month as babies are unpredictable and come when they’re ready. I want each of my clients to get the absolute best service I can provide and the attention they deserve.

When is the best time for a newborn session?

The sweet spot for newborn photos is between 5-10 days. After two weeks most babies become less curly and are less willing to to get in to various poses. They’re also less sleepy after the first two weeks. I can still get photos you’ll love after that time frame, but your baby might not be willing to do some poses and be more content wrapped up.

My baby is here, is it too late?

Absolutely not! While it’s best to book early, babies are on their own schedule. So there may be spots available for a session.

How long will the session last?

This depends on the collection you decide on. I offer sessions that last from one to three hours depending on the collection.

What do I need to do to prepare for a session?

I send all my clients a prep guide before their session which gives my full list of things to do to prepare. But a few key points are to not dress baby in anything that will go over their head when I undress them. Zip up or buttoned sleepers work best. Also, be aware that it’s hard work for your baby during a session, so be ready with extra bottles or to nurse during the session.

Where will my session take place?

Your home! I travel to my clients homes and bring the studio to you. Think if me as your concierge newborn photographer.

Are family photos included?

Yes, depending on the collection that you choose. I like to take family photos first so that you are your freshest. This is also because if you are including children, we can get them done and off to play or hang out. The sessions are long and children (especially the younger ones) don’t like waiting around and get restless.

How many images should I expect to receive?

This depends on the collection that you choose. If there are any extra photos for the collection you are more than welcome to purchase them from the a la carte menu.

What is included in the price?

What’s included in each collection varies, but there are a few things that are common in all the collections. To book all you need is to put down a deposit. That deposit is deducted from your full collection price. You will receive an unedited proof gallery to choose your photos from. This is the time when you can add on photos to your collection. You will receive a final gallery of your chosen photos. Each collection also includes a print release.

How long after my session should I expect to get my images?

You can expect to see your unedited proof gallery within 48 hours of your session. You final gallery will be delivered 10-14 days after your session.
