A Year In Review | Newborn Photographer In Baton Rouge, LA
Happy New Year!!!! I’m a little late on this, but I thought with the New Year I’d take a look back at 2017. As a newborn photographer in Baton Rouge, LA, I can say that I learned a ton in the past year. There have been a ton of changes in the past year, and I hope that this year brings new and exciting changes too. Especially about photography and taking on a new genre. So here are a few things that happened in 2017 that I wanted to share.
I took a ton of workshops/classes
I’ve known for a long time that I wanted to be a newborn photographer. So at the beginning of the year I took several workshops and classes to learn the art that is newborn photography. I fully believe that no one should ever decide they are done learning and growing. Even the best, which I’m no where near, should never be content to stop learning. I’ve already signed up this year for a newborn and maternity online retreat. I’m hoping to go to an in person workshop. And I want to really work hard to achieve the look that I envision in my images.
I took the plunge into newborn photography
This one was a scary one for me. I’ve heard from other photographers that newborn photography isn’t for everyone. Especially the type of newborn photography I wanted to specialize in. And they were right. It’s hard work. But I love it. And work never feels as like work when you’re doing something you love. I learned a ton from my first newborn session to my most recent. And I got to cuddle some adorable babies.
I also took on the maternity genre
For a long time I was fully against maternity sessions. I just wanted to cuddle babies. I honestly think it was the fear of trying something new that made me not want to try it. But then I tried it out and I think I’ve fallen in love. I want to make mamas feel beautiful. I want them to be able to remember the time when their little one was in their belly. It was fun and I learned a lot about maternity sessions too.
I feel like I took the plunge in 2017 and I don’t regret it one bit. I’m finally doing something I truly love. 2017 was filled with changes and I can’t wait to see what 2018 has in store for me and my business.
